Susan Thompson

Susan moved to Houston after college and working in the restaurant industry for over 7 years to begin a career with Fortune 500 Lanier selling key and PBX systems, which was a timely parallel with the divestiture of AT&T. She returned to VT after several years to open the new office for Lanier and after 7 years of system sales, was hired to do the same for Sprint. Susan sold T-1's to major accounts and managed her database of clients. When the industry collapsed after her 17 year reign running the office for the entire state, Susan decided to take a break from telecom to start a wedding consulting business, Vermont Made Weddings, hiring Dale of Catering By Dale for all of her events. In 2017, Susan purchased the company from Dale and became CBD Events LLC. She immediately bought a new van to convert into a food truck, which was used during the pandemic as the main source of survival. In October 2022, CBD moved to a new commercial kitchen /event space to continue with takeout food services and develop the company offering the many facets learned. Copper At Dorset is now open for dining and booking events.

Chef Jason

Executive Chef, Jason Gelrud

Jason grew up in the restaurant business working in his father’s deli through his high school years doing everything from washing dishes to flipping omelets. While studying at West Virginia University and shortly after, he worked in numerous bars and restaurants as a line cook, a server and bartender. At an early age of 21, he became the bar manager of a blues club and restaurant in Maryland while taking culinary courses. A few years later, Jason moved to New York City to secure a job as the operations manager/office manager of the Jamaica program as a tour operator providing travel for thousands of spring break bound college students. In 2009, Jason became one of the owners of Nectar’s & Club Metronome for 13 years, selling out in 2022. While at Nectar’s, Jason headed up the food/ beverage management and events team while also becoming a certified butcher. With excitement to return as a Chef, Jason started managing the deli and butcher shop at the Sweet Clover Market until Jan. of 2023 when he accepted the role of Executive Chef here at Copper at Dorset.

Aaron

Aaron Lowe

Aaron accepted the role of Chef in September 2022 at the time Catering By Dale was moving the commercial kitchen to it's new home here at Copper. Aaron was instrumental in assisting with everything that needed to be done to complete the fit up of our new restaurant, working tirelessly to help build and bring the entire project to completion in time to serve our repeat holiday clients. Chef Aaron's background as a private chef has contributed to the success of launching Copper with creative menus that are crowd pleasing, both visually appealing and excellent taste. Having served private meals for dignitaries, Aaron has been a strength for Copper in designing our menus and execution of events.

We hope to see you soon!
